Russia strikes Ukrainian railway infrastructure 18 times since beginning of March

Russia has intensified its attacks on railway infrastructure, with rolling stock among the main targets. In the first days of March alone, 41 facilities were damaged.

Ukrinform reports this, citing Ukrzaliznytsia.

"Since the beginning of March, 18 strikes have already been recorded, an average of six per day. The terrorist state is using UAVs and FPV drones for these attacks," the statement said.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, 41 facilities have been damaged since the start of the month. Among the main targets is rolling stock: damage to 17 units has been recorded.

"The enemy is also striking passenger cars. This morning in Mykolaiv, an enemy UAV attacked a passenger carriage. Ukrzaliznytsia’s monitoring group detected the drone in the air in time and evacuated people. There were no fatalities, but a train inspector was injured," the statement said.

Ukrzaliznytsia added that locomotives, freight cars, and specialized equipment used for infrastructure repairs have also come under attack. This month, the enemy has also targeted railway depots and bridges. The heaviest shelling has occurred near the front line.

"Together with the military, Ukrzaliznytsia continues to monitor the airspace along train routes. If a threat is detected, railway workers change train routes, promptly evacuate passengers from carriages, and take other safety measures," the company added.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on March 2 a Russian drone struck a suburban electric train in the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing one person and injuring others.
