Defense Forces repel assault on Bilohrudyi island
In the island part of the Kherson region, the enemy continues drone and artillery strikes, but the Defense Forces maintain control of the situation and destroy attempts by the adversary to move.
Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, stated this during a TV broadcast, Ukrinform's correspondent reports.
"Over the past day, one combat engagement was recorded in the island zone; the enemy attempted to land and assault our positions on Bilohrudyi Island. The situation regarding assault actions is somewhat calmer than in the Zaporizhzhia direction, but the enemy is not reducing the number of kamikaze drone strikes and artillery shelling," Voloshyn said.
He added that over the past three to four days, Russian forces have begun carrying out airstrikes with unguided rockets, using army aviation and helicopters against settlements on the right bank downstream from the destroyed Kakhovka dam.
"The enemy has not yet intensified to the point of conducting mass assault operations, but is trying to carry out logistical measures and rotate personnel at observation posts on several islands," he emphasized.
As Ukrinform previously reported, 145 combat engagements between Ukraine's Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded along the front line on March 1.
