Syrskyi: 400 km² and eight settlements were retaken in month in Oleksandrivka sector

Since the end of January this year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have regained control of 400 km² of territory and eight settlements in the Oleksandrivka sector.

According to Ukrinform, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported this on Facebook.

He noted that he is directly involved in combat operations in the Southern Operational Zone.

“During my regular working trip, I visited the units that are advancing and the units that are holding the defense on one of the key sections of the front,” Syrskyi said.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine held a substantive meeting with the commanders. "We discussed the status of combat missions, problematic issues, and proposals for their resolution. We identified priority steps to strengthen our defense and support our units. Logistics, evacuation of the wounded, uninterrupted supply of ammunition, and technical support for units are necessary conditions for our stability," Syrskyi clarified.

“The situation in this area is complicated. The enemy continues to exert pressure, actively using small assault groups for infiltration, artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles, and in some places, armored vehicles,” the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.

“But our soldiers are not only defending, but they are also successfully conducting offensive operations. Since the end of January this year, in the Oleksandrivka sector, the Air Assault Forces and adjacent units have regained control of 400 km² of territory and eight settlements,” Syrskyi emphasized.

He also commended the servicemen of the 82nd and 95th Air Assault Brigades for their courage, endurance, and professionalism in battle. "I thanked everyone who stands guard every day. I spoke separately with our soldiers. Their confidence, calmness, and fighting spirit are unwavering,” he stressed.

“Our plan remains unchanged: To effectively carry out the tasks set with maximum preservation of the lives and health of our defenders, to strengthen our defense capabilities and build up our capabilities in every sector of the front,” Syrskyi said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on February 20, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the Defense Forces had liberated 300 km² in the south of the country.
