Ukrainian forces deal heavy blow to Russian oil sector with DeepStrike in January – CinC Syrskyi

In January, 48 fire missions using DeepStrike were carried out against Russia’s oil and gas sector, resulting in an overall 19% reduction in oil refining in Russia.

This was reported on Facebook by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, according to Ukrinform.

“In the war against Ukrainians, the Russian army relies on its ‘trusted’ allies – frost and darkness. But the enemy will not break us,” Syrskyi stated.

According to the General, in January, the Armed Forces of Ukraine stabilized the situation on the frontlines, halted the enemy, and effectively destroyed their personnel and equipment.

Total Russian losses in the first month of the year amounted to 31,700 personnel, 9,000 more than their reinforcements for the same period, Syrskyi emphasized.

“This trend must continue and be strengthened,” the Commander-in-Chief stressed.

Syrskyi reported that an analysis was conducted on the fulfillment of combat and operational tasks, including repelling enemy air strikes, staffing and supplying the troops, conducting engineering and fortification works, and maintaining law and order in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In January, 48 fire missions using DeepStrike were carried out against the Russian oil and gas sector.

As a result, Syrskyi noted, total oil refining in Russia decreased by 19%, equivalent to 53.4 million tons per year.

The Air Forces carried out 80 airstrikes, while Ukraine’s strike drones completed over 300,000 special missions.

These strikes on Russian airfields reduced the enemy’s use of guided bombs by 5%.

In January, Ukraine’s air defense forces, despite a shortage of munitions, destroyed 21,700 Russian aerial targets and 21,600 drones of various types.

“Despite four years of full-scale war against a numerically superior enemy, the Ukrainian forces hold the line and continues to reduce the strength of Russian forces,” Syrskyi noted.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, according to Syrskyi, since the creation of the UAV Forces unit in summer 2025, their effectiveness in fire strikes against the enemy has risen from 4% to 33%. Additionally, drones now account for roughly 60% of all fire strikes on the frontlines.
