Ukrainian border guards report shelling, local assaults on border with Russia
Along the border with Russia in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, Russian forces are primarily conducting shelling, while infantry activity is localized. On certain sections, assault attempts were repelled, and the enemy suffered losses.
Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, announced this on television, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Primarily, these are shelling attacks. To say that along the entire border the enemy is somehow [active] with infantry groups or attacks – this is not the case," Demchenko said.
According to him, in the Sumy region, the enemy concentrates activity in the Khotin and Yunakivka communities, but is unable to advance.
"In the defense sectors of the State Border Guard Service units, particularly near the settlement of Varachyne, the enemy cannot advance and instead suffers losses," he said.
Demchenko added that in the Kharkiv region, the greatest activity was recorded in the direction of Vovchanski Khutory, but an assault attempt was repelled.
"Yesterday there was also an attempt to storm our positions, but it was repelled and the enemy suffered losses," the spokesperson said.
At the same time, according to Demchenko, enemy activity in other parts of the Kharkiv region has decreased due to significant losses.
"Although the enemy is still showing some activity, weather conditions also do not favor the enemy in terms of expanding attacks along the border. Nevertheless, we must be ready for any developments," he concluded.
