Poland capable of maintaining Ukrainian MiG-29s at high combat readiness – expert
Poland has significant experience and capabilities to keep Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jets at a high level of combat readiness, including aircraft transferred by Warsaw to Kyiv.
Polish expert and former commander of the rocket and artillery forces of the Polish Land Forces, General Jaroslaw Kraszewski, stated this in a comment to Ukrinform, commenting on a statement by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov regarding joint modernization of MiG-29 aircraft with Poland.
According to the expert, Poland used MiG-29s quite effectively for many years and therefore has the knowledge, experience, and infrastructure needed to repair and modernize this type of aircraft.
"Since the relevant infrastructure exists, including specialized military aviation plants and personnel with vast experience in this field, joint efforts should be made to bring these aircraft to proper condition and maintain them at the highest possible level of combat and technical readiness to carry out their missions," Kraszewski said.
In his opinion, this is "a significant step toward further deepening military cooperation between Poland and Ukraine."
He added that in return for the opportunity to modernize and repair MiG-29s, Ukraine could share its capabilities with Poland in the production of UAVs and countering enemy drones.
