War update: 154 clashes on front line over past day, most fights in Pokrovsk, Huliaipole sectors
Over the past day, January 21, 154 combat engagements took place between the Defense Forces of Ukraine and Russian troops, with the invaders exerting the greatest pressure on the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole directions.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, publishing operational information as of 08:00 on Thursday, January 22, according to Ukrinform.
The Russians carried out two missile strikes and 84 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using two missiles and 197 guided aerial bombs.
In addition, the enemy employed 6,183 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,552 shelling attacks, including 21 from multiple launch rocket systems.
The invaders carried out air strikes on the areas of the settlements of Velykomykhailivka and Kolomiitsi in Dnipropetrovsk region; Ternuvate, Verkhnia Tersa, Zaliznychne, Vozdvyzhivka, Yuliivka, Rozumivka, Huliaipole and Huliaipilske in Zaporizhzhia region; and Sadove in Kherson region.
Aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Defense Forces struck four areas where enemy personnel and equipment were concentrated, an air defense system, and one Russian command post.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian troops carried out 72 shelling attacks.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces stopped seven enemy attacks in the area of Dvorichanske and toward Izbytske, Hrafske, Kruhle and Kutkivka.
In the Kupiansk sector, eight Russian attacks occurred. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy assault actions toward the settlements of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Kurylivka and Bohuslavka.
In the Lyman sector, the Russians attacked seven times, attempting to break into the defense in the areas of the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Drobyshcheve and Yampil, and toward Dibrova, Lyman and Novoserhiivka.
In the Sloviansk sector, the Defense Forces repelled two Russian attacks in the area of Dronivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian units repelled an enemy attack in the area of Stupochky.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, the Russians carried out ten attacks in the areas of the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka and Sofiivka, and toward Kostiantynivka and Ivanopillia.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the Defense Forces stopped 38 enemy assault actions in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske and Filiia, and toward Bilytske, Ivanivka, Serhiivka and Novopidhordnie.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the Russians carried out eight attacks in the areas of the settlements of Zlahoda and Yehorivka, and toward Sosnivka and Nove Zaporizhzhia.
In the Huliaipole sector, the Defense Forces repelled 36 Russian attacks in the areas of Huliaipole and Solodke, and toward Dobropillia, Zelene, Pryluky, Varvarivka and Sviatopetrivka.
No combat engagements were recorded in the Orikhiv sector, the General Staff emphasized.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy twice unsuccessfully attempted to improve its position.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groupings were detected.
As Ukrinform reported, the total combat losses of Russian forces from February 24, 2022 to January 22, 2026 in the war against Ukraine amount to approximately 1,230,810 personnel, including 1,070 over the previous day.
