War update: 180 combat engagements along frontline over past day, fiercest battles in Pokrovsk, Huliaipole sectors
On January 15, 2026, a total of 180 combat engagements were recorded between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Russian invaders.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was stated in a Facebook post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reflecting the situation as of 8:00 on Friday, January 16.
The enemy carried out two missile strikes and 97 air strikes, using three missiles and dropping 234 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces deployed 6,968 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,338 artillery and mortar attacks, including 57 with multiple-launch rocket systems.
Air strikes targeted the settlements of Havrylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Manukhivka and Bilopillia in the Sumy region, Rizdvianka, Verkhnia Tersa, Liubytske, Samiilivka, Vozdvyzhivka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Tavriiske, Preobrazhenka in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck seven clusters of enemy personnel, two UAV command points, and one other important Russian facility.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, one engagement occurred; enemy conducted one airstrike dropping two bombs and 111 artillery/mortar attacks, including three with MLRS.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 11 Russian attacks near Vovchansk, Prylipky, Tykhe, Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, and toward Izbytske, Kruhle, Nesterne.
In the Kupiansk sector, six Russian attacks were repelled toward Pishchane, Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, Bohuslavka.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy carried out 19 attacks attempting to advance near Zarichne, Novoselivka, Torske, and toward Lyman, Stavky, Druzheliubivka, Oleksandrivka, Dibrova, Drobysheve.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled five attacks near Siversk, Platonivka, and toward Zakitne.
In the Kramatorsk sector, four attacks were repelled near Vasiukivka, Fedorivka, and toward Pryvillia, Minkivka.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, there were 21 clashes near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, and toward Novopavlivka, Stepankivka, Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders halted 46 assaults near Nikanorivka, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Molodetske, Filiia, and toward Vilne, Rodynske, Nove Shakhove, Sukhetske.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian forces carried out 10 attacks near Vyshneve and toward Ivanivka, Oleksandrohrad, Yehorivka, Rybne, Zlahoda, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Nove Zaporizhzhia, Sichneve.
In the Huliaipole sector, 30 Russian attacks were repelled near Solodke, Huliaipole, and toward Dobropillia, Olenokostiantynivka, Zelene, Varvarivka.
In the Orikhiv sector, five engagements occurred near Prymorske, Stepnohirsk, Stepove, Kamianske.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy conducted one failed attempt to advance near Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of enemy offensive groupings were detected.
As reported by Ukrinform, total Russian combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, to January 16, 2026, are approximately 1,224,460 personnel, including 1,370 over the past day.
