War update: almost 100 clashes on front line since morning, Defense Forces repel 26 attacks in Pokrovsk region
Since the beginning of the day, 97 combat engagements have taken place between Ukraine's Defense Forces and Russian troops. In particular, 27 attacks were recorded on the Pokrovsk axis.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this in a Facebook update as of 16:00 on Friday, January 9.
The Russian army shelled border settlements with artillery and mortars, including Ryzhivka, Bezsalivka, and Bila Bereza in the Sumy region.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the enemy carried out 65 shelling attacks, including one using a multiple launch rocket system.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, the Defense Forces repelled six Russian attacks in the areas of Prylipka, Starytsia, Vovchansk, and Zelene. Two engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy is attempting to advance near Stepova Novoselivka and toward Bohuslavka. Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks, with one battle still ongoing.
In the Lyman sector, Russian forces carried out 12 attacks near the settlements of Novovodiane, Novoiehorivka, Kolodiazi, Drobyshcheve, and Myrne. One engagement is still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk sector, the enemy attempted once to advance on Ukrainian positions near Platonivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, one assault by the invaders toward Stupochky was recorded.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, the enemy made 15 attempts to break into Ukrainian defenses near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, and toward Sofiivka. Two engagements are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian army made 27 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Razine, Shakhove, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, and toward Novopavlivka and Filiia. The Defense Forces are holding the line and have already repelled 26 attacks.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 12 enemy assault actions. Russian forces are attempting to advance near Piddubne, Sosnivka, Vyshneve, Rybne, Yehorivka, and Krasnohirskе, with two engagements still ongoing. In addition, Malomykhailivka was struck by guided aerial bombs.
In the Huliaipole sector, 16 combat engagements took place near the settlements of Solodke, Huliaipole, Varvarivka, and Zelene. Three engagements are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv sector, no enemy offensive actions have been recorded since the start of the day.
In the Prydniprovske sector, Russian forces made one unsuccessful attempt to improve their positions.
As Ukrinform previously reported, fighters of the 79th Separate Tavriia Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed several groups of Russian troops near Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region, who had been using cesspits on the territory of a farming enterprise as shelter.
