Air Defense Forces destroy 226 Russian drones, eight ballistic missiles, and 10 Kalibr missiles

Air Defense Forces destroyed 226 Russian drones, eight Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and 10 Kalibr cruise missiles.

According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, the Russians launched a combined strike on critical infrastructure in Ukraine using strike UAVs, sea-based, and land-based missiles.

The main target of the strike was the Kyiv region.

In total, the Air Force's radio-technical troops detected and tracked 278 air attack vehicles, including 36 missiles and 242 UAVs of various types.

  • 242 Shahed and Gerbera UCAVs (other types of drones) from the following directions: Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), Chauda, Hvardiiske (temporarily occupied Crimea), and temporarily occupied Donetsk. About 150 of them were Shahed drones.
  • 13 Iskander-M / S-400 ballistic missiles (launch areas – Bryansk region);
  • 22 Kalibr cruise missiles (from the Black Sea);
  • One medium-range ballistic missile (from the Kapustin Yar test site, Astrakhan region).

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, Air Defense Forces shot down/jammed 244 air targets:

  • 226 drones;
  • eight Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles;
  • 10 Kalibr cruise missiles.

Hits by 18 missiles and 16 UCAVs were recorded at 19 locations.

As reported by Ukrinform, 25 people were injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack on the night of January 9, and four people were killed.
