DIU conducts successful operation behind enemy lines on Zaporizhzhia front
In December 2025, during a special operation on the Zaporizhzhia front, a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Bratstvo unit, which is part of the Tymur Special Unit of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), carried out a deep raid behind enemy lines near the Kakhovka Reservoir.
The DIU press service reported this, according to Ukrinform.
“During the combat mission, DIU operatives eliminated two Russian invaders, wounded two others, and captured two more.
After that, Bratstvo fighters carried out a complex and lengthy escort of the prisoners over a distance of about 27 kilometers and brought them to territory controlled by Ukraine,” the statement said.
The captured Russians provided valuable information on the locations of enemy officers, artillery positions, UAV operators, areas where personnel and equipment are concentrated, and ammunition depots.
The operation confirmed the presence of serious gaps in the enemy’s frontline defense system: the adversary does not expect active actions by Ukrainian intelligence deep within its positions and is unable to mount effective resistance in the rear.
After the operation, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov awarded the fighters and commanders of the Bratstvo unit with state and departmental honors.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, the DIU released footage showing episodes of operations by the Tymur Special Unit on the Zaporizhzhia front, including the destruction of enemy hideouts and the capture of Russian soldiers.
