War update: 221 combat engagements on front lines over past day
A total of 221 combat engagements between Ukraine's Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front lines on January 6.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in its morning update published on Facebook on Wednesday, January 7.
The enemy carried out two missile strikes and 90 airstrikes, using two missiles and 236 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces launched 6,200 attack drones and conducted 3,288 shelling attacks, including 123 from multiple launch rocket systems.
Enemy airstrikes targeted areas near Vozdvyzhivka, Pryluky, Yuliivka, Zelene and Verkhnia Tersa in the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as Havrylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Ukraine's missile forces and artillery struck three areas where Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.
Three combat clashes occurred in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors. The enemy carried out three airstrikes, dropping eight guided bombs, and conducted 82 shelling attacks, including one using MLRS.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 15 Russian assaults near Vovchansk, Starytsia and Prylipky.
In the Kupiansk sector, seven enemy assaults took place. Ukrainian forces repelled attacks near Pishchane, Petropavlivka and Kurylivka.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy launched 18 assaults, attempting to break through near Myrne, Zarichne, Derylove, Karpivka, Serednie, and toward Drobysheve, Stavky, Cherneshchyna, Novoserhiivka and Ozerne.
In the Sloviansk sector, four Russian assaults toward Riznykivka were repelled.
In the Kramatorsk sector, six engagements took place near Vasiukivka, Chasiv Yar and toward Bondarne.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, the enemy launched 18 assaults near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka and Kleban-Byk, as well as toward Stepanivka, Ivanopillia, Mykolaipillia and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 44 Russian assaults near Nykonorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, Filiia, and toward Kucheriv Yar, Nove Shakhove, Hryshyne and Sukhestske.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy carried out 13 assaults near Oleksandrohrad, Verbove, Solodke, Zlahoda, and toward Oleksiivka and Ivanivka.
In the Huliaipole sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 48 enemy attacks near Huliaipole and toward Dobropillia, Varvarivka, Zelene and Pryluky.
No offensive actions by the enemy were recorded in the Orikhiv sector.
In the Dnipro River sector, Ukrainian troops repelled one Russian assault toward the Antonivskyi Bridge area.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of Russian offensive force formation were observed.
