War update: 45 clashes along frontline since dawn, fighting ongoing in five sectors
Since the start of the day, a total of 45 clashes have been recorded along the entire frontline, with ongoing fighting in five sectors. Russian forces continue to apply the greatest pressure in the Pokrovsk sector and have shown increased activity in the Huliaipole and Kostiantynivka sectors.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, providing operational information as of 16:00 on Friday, January 2, according to Ukrinform.
Today, Russian forces shelled Budky, Znob-Trubchevska, and Bezsalivka in the Sumy region with artillery and struck Iskryskivshchyna using aviation.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the Russian invaders dropped two aerial bombs and shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements 37 times.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces twice attacked Ukrainian fortifications near Vovchansk and toward Izbytske, and also carried out a missile strike on civilian targets in Kharkiv.
In the Kupiansk sector, fighting continues near Petropavlivka.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy has not launched any offensive actions today.
In the Sloviansk sector, Russians twice attacked Ukrainian positions near Zakitne and Pereizne.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian troops carried out one attack near Minkivka but were repelled.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, the Russian invaders attacked nine times near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Kleban-Byk, Mykolaipillia, and Sofiivka. Three clashes are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 14 times near Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Molodetske, Udachne, Filiia, and toward Novopavlivka. Four clashes are ongoing.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks near Vyshneve, Zlahoda, and Rybnye. One clash is ongoing.
In the Huliaipole sector, nine clashes have been recorded since dawn near Huliaipole, toward Dobropillia and Zelene. Six of these are still ongoing. Russian aviation struck Zaliznychne, Verkhnia Tersa, and Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv sector, two clashes have been recorded near Plavni and Prymorske. Novoandriivka was hit by an enemy airstrike.
In the Prydniprovske sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled one Russian assault near the Antonivskyi Bridge.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Russians are attempting to increase pressure in the northern outskirts of Pokrovsk and are assaulting Hryshyne.
