Zelensky, Merz discuss preparations for meeting with Trump: We continue acting together with Europeans
President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed preparations for the meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
According to Ukrinform, Zelensky reported this on Telegram.
"I spoke with Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz. We are coordinating our positions, and everyone in Europe must be on the same page in defending our European way of life, the independence of our states, and peace in Europe. There must be peace," he said.
According to Zelensky, they discussed preparations for the meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
"I briefed him on our work with the U.S. envoys – we all recall the Berlin meeting format and the productivity that was achieved there. This is exactly how we continue to work. We agreed to continue acting together with Europeans," Zelensky emphasized.
He thanked Germany and Merz for their consistent and tangible support for Ukraine.
"I am grateful to Germany for its unwavering and tangible support for Ukraine and our defense. Thanks to what we are doing together with Germany, thousands upon thousands of lives in Ukraine have already been saved from Russian strikes, and we are maintaining our defensive positions to ensure the strength of our diplomatic positions," the President stressed.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Zelensky spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ahead of the meetings in Florida.
