Defense Forces eliminate Russian assault groups that infiltrated Siversk due to adverse weather
Ukrainian defenders are eliminating Russian assault groups that managed to infiltrate the city of Siversk in the Donetsk region amid unfavorable weather conditions.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was stated by the Operation Task Force "East" on Facebook as of 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17.
According to the report, the situation in the Siversk area remains tense. Russian invaders are attempting to bypass the city in the areas of Sviato-Pokrovske, Serebrianka, and Dronivka.
The Defense Forces are blocking the enemy’s advance and are taking additional measures to stabilize the situation.
In the Pokrovsk sector over the past day, defenders neutralized more than 280 Russian servicemen, destroyed three enemy tanks, 12 vehicles, and five units of special equipment, four armored combat vehicles, one motorcycle, nine drones, and two personnel shelters. Another three vehicles, a BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system, and seven shelters were damaged. In the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration area, Ukrainian defenders continue active operations. In particular, the defense of Pokrovsk is ongoing.
“Our troops control the northern part of the city. Search-and-assault operations and the elimination of the enemy in urban areas are underway,” the grouping reported.
In Myrnohrad, defenders are holding defensive lines and eliminating Russian troops on the approaches to the city. There have been isolated cases of enemy infiltration into the southeastern districts, but they are being detected and neutralized.
The Defense Forces are organizing additional logistical routes to Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad to ensure an uninterrupted supply of all necessities to their units and to maintain the ability to conduct timely evacuations.
Overall, within the area of responsibility of the East Operational Group of Forces, defenders repelled 115 Russian assaults over the past day. The enemy continues to suffer the heaviest losses here, with 614 invaders neutralized in 24 hours. In addition, 703 Russian drones of various types and 103 other weapons and equipment were destroyed, including three tanks and four armored vehicles.
The Defense Forces are focusing efforts on eliminating not only enemy infantry but also drone operators. Over the past day, defenders managed to strike 36 Russian unmanned aerial vehicle crews. Missile forces and artillery units operating within the area of responsibility of the East Operational Group of Forces carried out 1,292 fire missions over the past day.
As reported by Ukrinform, over the previous day in the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian attacks carried out in the areas of Siversk, Serebrianka, and toward Pazeno.
In the Pokrovsk sector, defenders stopped 82 enemy assault actions in the areas of Kotlyne, Udachne, and Pokrovsk, as well as toward Rivne, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Zvirove, Serhiivka, Novopavlivka, Filiia, Nove Shakhove, Dorozhnie, Sukhetske, Vilne, and Ivanivka.
