Russians attack medical facilities in Kherson region over 500 times - Kherson RMA head Prokudin
Russians have attacked medical facilities in the Kherson region more than 500 times.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on television by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA), Alexander Prokudin.
“In the Kherson region, medical workers have to work in extremely dangerous conditions. The Russians have attacked our medical facilities more than 500 times — there are almost no hospitals left that have not been damaged by shelling,” Prokudin said.
According to him, despite this, 42 healthcare facilities, comprising almost 130 medical institutions, continue to operate in the region. They are equipped with everything necessary and are ready to provide assistance to the region's residents. This includes about 2,200 medical workers, among them about 670 doctors, who save people under shelling every day.
He added that underground hospitals are currently operating in the region. Prokudin said that in just one hospital, which was shelled more than 20 times by the enemy, 1,200 heart and vascular surgeries were performed last year.
The head of the Regional Military Administration also stressed that there is a problem - a shortage of specialists. There is a particular shortage of those who work with multiple injuries, as there are wounded every day. Neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists, oncologists, traumatologists, and other narrow-profile specialists are also needed.
The region is cooperating with the relevant ministry and requesting that specialists be sent on assignment from other regions of Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, five more “underground hospitals” will be put into operation in the de-occupied Kherson region by the end of the year, with 11 currently in operation.
