Russian forces trying to capture Vovchansk for 565 days, city lies in ruins
Soldiers with the 57th Otaman Kost Hordiienko Motorized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who are defending the area near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, have shown what the city – devastated by Russian invaders – looks like today.
According to Ukrinform, the brigade published the video on Facebook.
"This is what the city of Vovchansk looks like today. The enemy has been trying to capture it for 565 days," the post reads.
The brigade noted that Russian forces have repeatedly claimed to have taken the city and have filmed propaganda videos there showing their flags being raised.
"Everything here is destroyed. From a city where life carried on before the occupiers came, now there are no factories, no school, no church left," the brigade said.
The 57th Brigade also added: "Buildings cannot withstand it. But our fighters continue to hold the defense."
The footage was recorded by operators of the Murchyky unmanned systems battalion.
