Witkoff to meet Zelensky in Turkey – Reuters
US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff will arrive for a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who plans to visit Turkey on Wednesday in an effort to revive negotiations with Russia on ending the war.
Reuters reported this, citing a Turkish source, according to Ukrinform.
"A Turkish source said that U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff would also visit Turkey on Wednesday and join the planned talks there with Zelensky," the report reads.
According to the agency, no in-person negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow have taken place since their meeting in Istanbul in July. Ukraine and Russia held several rounds of talks in Istanbul, which enabled the exchange of thousands of prisoners of war and the remains of fallen soldiers. However, no breakthrough on a ceasefire was achieved.
As Ukrinform reported, Zelensky will be visiting Spain on Tuesday, November 18, and on Wednesday, November 19, he will make a visit to Turkey.
According to Zelensky, efforts are underway to intensify negotiations with Russia, and decisions have been prepared that will be proposed to Ukraine's partners. Zelensky also stated that Kyiv is working on resuming the exchange of prisoners of war.
