Russians shot three Ukrainian prisoners of war in Zaporizhzhia region - case has been opened
The Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the shooting of three Ukrainian prisoners of war by the enemy in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
This was reported on Facebook by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, according to Ukrinform.
“Under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, on November 16, 2025, criminal proceedings were initiated on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the statement said.
It is noted that on November 15, a video recording of the shooting of three captured Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers by Russian military personnel was circulated on the Internet. According to the investigation, the incident took place on November 14, 2025, in the Huliaypole direction of the Zaporizhzhia region, where active hostilities are ongoing.
“The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime. The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by investigators of the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region,” the prosecutor's office said.
As reported by Ukrinform, a Russian assault soldier received life imprisonment for shooting a Ukrainian soldier who had surrendered.
