Ukraine’s forces stop Russian attempts to fortify positions on Huliaipole front

Russian forces have failed to occupy Uspenivka and other settlements in the Huliaipole sector of the front, despite actively attempting to deploy consolidation groups into these areas. Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue fierce battles to prevent the enemy from securing positions on territories they have entered.

Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Defense Forces of the South, stated this in a comment to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“The Russians have not occupied Uspenivka. They are trying to bring consolidation groups into these settlements (Uspenivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Zlahoda, Solodke, and Okhotnyche), but the Defense Forces have pulled back from those positions. Right now, our assault units are working to prevent the enemy from entering and fortifying themselves there,” the spokesperson said.

Voloshyn explained that fierce battles are ongoing in all of these settlements, where Ukrainian assault units are fighting for every meter of territory.

“As of now, the operation continues, and it is too early to talk about its final results — whether we have left some settlements or, on the contrary, secured new positions,” he summarized.
