HUR intercepts order from Colombian mercenaries fighting for Russia to kill civilians
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) has intercepted an order from Colombian mercenaries serving in the Russian army to kill Ukrainian civilians.
HUR said this in a Facebook post seen by Ukrinform.
In a recent radio intercept, Ukrainian intelligence recorded a war crime ordered by Colombian mercenaries who are fighting in the ranks of the 30th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade, part of the 2nd Combined Arms Army of Russia's Central Military District.
In the intercepted conversation, a field commander gives an order in Spanish to execute Ukrainian civilians. He explicitly commands troops to shoot women and children.
"When there's fog, mist, so they cannot be identified, let them eliminate all people who are enemies: on motorcycles, on bicycles, women and children, women and children," he commands.
HUR noted that killing civilians is a regular practice by the 30th Motor Rifle Brigade, directed by its command. Just three days earlier, members of that brigade reportedly committed another war crime, shooting civilians near Pokrovsk.
"Now the Russian command is trying to spread this practice to foreign nationals fighting for Moscow, making them accomplices in crimes against the civilian population," HUR said.
