Kharkiv clarifies: No children among injured in kindergarten strike
During the Shahed drone attack, children from a private kindergarten were in a basic shelter inside the building.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated this on a television broadcast.
“Three Shaheds struck near a private kindergarten. Fortunately, the children had been evacuated to a simple shelter located in the basement. State Emergency Service personnel evacuated the children. According to the kindergarten staff, no children remained in the building. Rescuers are now working on the second floor, which has completely collapsed,” the mayor said.
Terekhov added that the fire is still ongoing. Earlier reports that children were among the injured have not been confirmed, he noted.
According to him, six people required medical assistance. Among the injured are utility workers who were working near the building hit by the UAV.
