Russian saboteurs infiltrate Pokrovsk, several civilians killed
A Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group infiltrated the center of Pokrovsk, killing several civilians near the railway station.
Ukrinform reports this, citing the 7th Rapid Response Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces on Facebook.
“Recently, an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group managed to infiltrate the center of Pokrovsk. Unfortunately, during their movement, the Russians violated international humanitarian law and killed several civilians in the town, near the railway station,” the statement reads.
A joint assault-and-search group of the Ukrainian Defense Forces located and eliminated the intruders, who were hiding in one of the station buildings at the time.
Military officials have emphasized that Pokrovsk’s defense has been reinforced with additional forces and equipment. Special units are conducting constant screening of potential infiltration points and patrolling the town intensively.
A total of 14 Russian personnel who managed to enter Pokrovsk over the past two days have been neutralized.
Civilians staying in Pokrovsk were urged not to move around the town unless absolutely necessary.
Within the 7th Corps’ area of responsibility, the situation remains tense. The enemy aims to expand the “gray zone” around Pokrovsk and is attempting to enter the town from multiple directions.
Military personnel have also released video footage showing the elimination of Russian sabotage groups at the railway station, other town locations, and approaches to Pokrovsk.
The 7th Corps noted a significant increase in Russian guided aerial bomb strikes on logistics. On October 12, Russia dropped 76 guided aerial bombs on Pokrovsk agglomeration, and last week, attacks intensified further: 372 bombs from October 13–19 compared to 220 bombs from October 6–12.
Ukrinform previously reported that in September, Russian forces shot a family of civilians and took a child hostage in Shandryholove, Donetsk region.
