Situation on southern front shows signs of escalation – military spokesperson

On the southern front, the situation is showing certain signs of escalation. In particular, over the past day Russian occupation forces increased the number of kamikaze drone strikes, artillery shelling, and the amount of ammunition used.

Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, announced this on Ukrainian television, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The situation is quite difficult and has certain tendencies toward escalation. This is evident in the fact that over the past day the enemy somewhat increased both kamikaze drone strikes and artillery shelling – not only against the positions of Ukraine's Defense Forces, but also against settlements near the front line. They also increased the volume of ammunition used during these attacks," Voloshyn said.

According to him, overall the number of combat clashes in the south yesterday was somewhat lower compared to other sectors.

"In the south, we recorded 13 such clashes, eight of which took place in the Huliaipole sector, where the enemy has been unsuccessfully trying for several days in a row to seize control of Poltavka. In addition, four clashes occurred in the Orikhiv sector near the settlements of Kamianske and Stepove, and the enemy also attempted assaults in the Dnipro River sector near the Antonivka bridges. All of these attempts failed," he said.

Voloshyn also added that in the Orikhiv sector, near Stepove, Russian forces again used motorcycles in their assaults, but without success – they suffered losses and retreated.
