Russia strikes energy infrastructure overnight, damages Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo facilities
During the night of October 5, the Russian Federation carried out a combined missile and drone strike targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. In particular, equipment belonging to JSC Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo was damaged.
According to Ukrinform, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
“As a result of the combined strike, equipment belonging to JSC Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo was damaged, leading to power outages for a significant number of consumers in the regional center and Zaporizhzhia district,” the Ministry said.
The situation remains difficult in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
“The enemy has once again attacked the Chernihiv region. Scheduled hourly power outages remain in effect. Power engineers are working to reduce the restrictions,” the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
Emergency repair and restoration efforts are currently underway to restore the electricity supply as soon as possible.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to the energy workers who, risking their lives, continue performing their duties and ensuring the stability of the national power system.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that last night, Russia launched more than 50 missiles and around 500 attack drones against Ukraine. Five people were killed, and ten more are known to have been injured.
