Russia launches more than 50 missiles and about 500 drones at Ukraine overnight, five people killed — Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia launched more than 50 missiles and about 500 attack drones at Ukraine overnight. Five people were killed, and 10 were injured.
According to Ukrinform, Zelensky reported this on Facebook.
"Last night, Ukraine once again came under a combined Russian attack – more than 50 missiles and about 500 attack drones. The Russians struck with cruise missiles, Shaheds, and Kinzhals, among other things. The Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad regions were all targeted. As of now, it is known that about ten people were injured in the attack. Sadly, five were killed. My sincere condolences to everyone who lost loved ones to this terror," the President stated.
Rescue and restoration work is currently underway where needed.
"I am constantly receiving reports from Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and Minister for Development of Communities and Territories Oleksii Kuleba, from the heads of regional military administrations, and from Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi. I expect the government officials to act swiftly and effectively to eliminate the consequences of this attack in the affected regions," Zelensky stressed.
According to him, today the Russians again struck Ukrainian infrastructure, everything that ensures a normal life for people.
"We need more protection and faster implementation of all defense agreements, especially on air defense, to deprive this aerial terror of any meaning. A unilateral ceasefire in the skies is possible – and it is precisely that which could open the way to real diplomacy. America and Europe must act to make Putin stop," the President emphasized.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko pointed up on Telegram that Russia's strategy is destruction and terror, but the world should not get used to this and must take action.
"This is another deliberate act of terror against civilians. Moscow continues to strike homes, schools, and energy facilities. Destruction and terror are Russia's only strategy. And the world should not get used to this, but must act. Sanctions, sanctions, and more sanctions are an effective tool to reduce Russia's ability to terrorize Ukraine and all of Europe," Svyrydenko said.
Commenting on Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called for increased transatlantic pressure on Moscow.
"To stop this escalation of terror, Russia must face increased transatlantic pressure, particularly on its energy revenues," Sybiha stressed.
According to him, the purchase of Russian energy resources is tantamount to financing war crimes against Ukraine.
"Together, we can and should deprive the Russian war machine of resources for terror," the Foreign Minister affirmed.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of October 5, Russian troops launched various types of drones and missiles at Ukraine. In the Lviv region, four people were killed and four were injured due to the Russian drone and missile attack.
