Invaders strike railway station in Shostka, hitting train and leaving dozens injured
Russia attacked the railway station in the Shostka community, with a drone striking a passenger train traveling from Shostka to Kyiv.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by the Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Hryhorov.
“The enemy deliberately struck civilian infrastructure, a passenger train running between Shostka and Kyiv. Passengers were injured,” the report said.
As noted, rescuers, medics, and all emergency services are working at the scene.
An operational headquarters is being set up. People are being provided with the necessary assistance, and the rescue operation is ongoing.
The extent of the damage and the number of victims are being clarified, Hryhorov added.
President Volodymyr Zelensky showed the consequences of the Russian invaders' strike on the railway station in Shostka, Sumy region.
He posted a video from the spot of the tragedy on Telegram.
"A savage Russian drone strike on the railway station in Shostka, Sumy region," the post reads.
All necessary services are already on site and have begun to help people.
All information regarding the victims is being clarified.
According to the President, dozens of people are known to have been injured at this time. Preliminary reports indicate that both Ukrzaliznytsia Ukrainian Railways employees and passengers were at the site of the crash.
"The Russians could not have been unaware that they were striking civilians. And this is terror the world must not ignore," Zelensky stated.
"Every day, Russia takes people’s lives. And only strength can make them stop. We’ve heard resolute statements from Europe and America – and it’s high time to turn them all into reality, together with everyone who refuses to accept murder and terror as normal. Lip service is not enough now. Strong action is needed," the President emphasized.
As reported, on the night of October 3, the Russian troops struck the Shostka community in the Sumy region: energy facilities were destroyed, the community lost power, and water is being supplied on a schedule.
