26-year-old Hero of Ukraine Maksym Danylchuk appointed new commander of Magura Brigade
Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Danylchuk, Hero of Ukraine, has been appointed the new commander of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade Magura of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Facebook by the Zhytomyr Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
Danylchuk was born in 1999 in the village of Barvynivka, Zviahel district, Zhytomyr region. He graduated from the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, he rose through the ranks from company commander to chief of staff and commander of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Kostyantyn Ostrozkyi.
His unit defended the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions and killed hundreds of invaders and destroyed much of their equipment. In February 2023, under Danylchuk's leadership, Ukrainian soldiers repelled numerous attacks by Wagner Group assault teams in the Donetsk region.
President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded him the title of Hero of Ukraine on February 24, 2024. Danylchuk was also awarded the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky I and III grades and the Order “For Courage” III grade.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with servicemen who participated in the defense of Antonov Airport and presented them with state awards. Captain Maksym Danylchuk, who carried out combat missions in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions in 2022-2023, received the highest state award.
