Ukrainian SOFs strike Russia’s Saratov Oil Refinery, General Staff reports
Overnight on September 16, Special Operations Forces (SOFs) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Saratov Oil Refinery.
Ukrinform reports this, citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
Explosions and a fire were reported in the area of the facility.
“The results of the strike are being clarified,” the General Staff noted.
The Saratov Oil Refinery produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, various grades of bitumen, vacuum gas oil, technical sulfur, and more — in total, over 20 types of petroleum products.
In 2023, the refinery’s processing volume reached 4.8 million tons.
The facility is used to meet the needs of the Russian Armed Forces.
