Russian forces attack rescuers extinguishing post-strike fire in Chernihiv region

Russian forces shelled 20 settlements in the Chernihiv region on September 14. Nizhyn and the Nizhyn district came under a massive attack by enemy drones.

Viacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Over the past day, the enemy shelled the Chernihiv region 42 times, causing 81 explosions. Twenty settlements were affected. Nizhyn and the Nizhyn district were under a massive attack by enemy drones," Chaus said.

According to him, five people were hospitalized as a result of the shelling. Four of them are State Emergency Service workers who were responding to a fire after one of the enterprises was hit. The Russians struck the site again, injuring four firefighters.

A 59-year-old resident of a village in the Nizhyn district was also wounded and hospitalized in Chernihiv Regional Hospital. A residential house was damaged.

Chaus noted that in the Nizhyn district, critical infrastructure and businesses were targeted by the enemy. In the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, the shelling caused fires in outbuildings.

In several districts, Russian attacks ignited dry grass across an area of nearly ten hectares. The fires have been extinguished.
