Shmyhal, Healey discuss security guarantees ahead of Coalition of the Willing summit
Ahead of the Coalition of the Willing leaders' summit, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and UK Defense Secretary John Healey worked through and finalized key issues regarding security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, Shmyhal reported this via Telegram.
"During UK Defense Secretary John Healey's visit to Kyiv, I took part in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing at the level of defense ministers and commanders-in-chief. Ahead of the upcoming Coalition of the Willing leaders' summit, we worked through and defined the framework of issues related to security guarantees. Following recent attacks on Kyiv, we've heard firm statements from all our partners expressing readiness to assume real responsibility for Ukraine's long-term security once agreements on a just peace are reached," Shmyhal said.
The minister thanked the United Kingdom and France for their leadership, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for his personal contribution, and all partners for supporting Ukraine at a critical moment.
As was reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Paris for a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and further talks in the Coalition of the Willing format.
