Critical infrastructure protection requires 1,000 more cyber specialists

Given the new law's requirements on cyber protection of state information resources and critical information infrastructure, Ukraine needs at least 1,000 additional specialists to form the core of the service.

Ukrinform reports that the head of the State Special Communications and Information Protection Service, Oleksandr Potii, stated this, according to the press service of the State Special Communications Service and Information Protection on YouTube.

"According to the law, we have critical infrastructure facilities that pose a national cybersecurity threat. And according to the law, critical infrastructure operators at these facilities must have appropriate cybersecurity officers. How many are needed? I believe that at least 1,000 are definitely needed. There should be 1,000 people who will form the core. In general, the shortage of personnel at various levels amounts to tens of thousands of specialists," Potii said.

Ukrinform reported that on March 27, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law to strengthen information protection and cybersecurity of state information resources and critical information infrastructure facilities.

Earlier, it was reported that the shortage of personnel in the field of information protection and cybersecurity in Ukraine could reach 100,000 people.
