Explaining complex things in simple words: Intensified Russian attacks, union of Europe, fake 'republics'

The Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security pursues efforts to provide a brief explanation to foreign audiences on the current topics of particular interest as regards Ukraine.

RUSSIAN’S ATTACKS ACTIVATION

  • Russian troops have sharply increased the intensity of shelling and ground attacks in recent weeks.
  • Russian command is trying to quickly achieve the maximum possible results until American military aid to Ukraine is fully restored.
  • That is why the enemy command does not count on losses and sends personnel on ‘’meat assaults.’’
  • Russian terror against the peaceful Ukrainian population of Kharkiv, Odesa, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and other Ukrainian areas under occupation also intensified. Moscow does not stop trying to create a humanitarian crisis.
  • After receiving new batches of weapons, the Defence Forces of Ukraine will be able to better protect the sky and will certainly stop the Russian offensive.

UNION OF EUROPE

On the occasion of Europe Day on May 9, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, arrived in Kyiv. A joint press conference was held with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

  • Europe is important for Ukraine, and Ukraine is also important for Europe. The visit of the distinguished guest on this day testified to the attention and significance that Ukraine has for the EU.
  • The European Parliament was the first European institution to call for Ukraine to be granted candidate status and start accession negotiations. Elections to the European Parliament will be held in June. We are convinced that support for Ukraine will continue.
  • Roberta Metsola confirmed that official negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU will begin this summer. It is important to adopt the negotiating framework until the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU will end, before July 1.
  • Ukraine is interested in its neighbors Moldova, Georgia, and Belarus will also join the EU in the future. Indeed, a united Europe is a space of peace, security, and cooperation.

FAKE ‘’REPUBLICS’’

May 11 marks the 10th anniversary of the pseudo-referendum on the separation of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR"

  • The event of May 11, 2014, had nothing to do with the manifestation of will, just like the fake referendum in Crimea that took place the day before, as well as the similar events of 2022 at the TOT of Ukraine.
  • In the context of the events of 2014, the epithet ‘’people's’’, which Russia used in relation to self-proclaimed ‘’republics’’, ‘’mayors’’, and ‘’governors,’’ became synonymous with the concepts of fake and illegitimate.
  • Russia called the occupied Ukrainian regions ‘’republics’’, but in fact turned them into reservations inhabited by residents deprived of civil rights.
  • The so-called ‘’independence’’ is a farce because the formations of the ‘’DPR’’ and ‘’LPR’’ have always been and remain completely under the control of Moscow. They easily gave up their ‘’independence’’ in 2022.
  • The Defence Forces of Ukraine will definitely liberate all the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions from Russian oppression, restore the constitutional order, and return peace, security and prosperity to the Ukrainian Donbas.
