Eighty-nine children remain in Donetsk region’s frontline settlements – administration

There are 89 children still living in frontline settlements of Donetsk region. Their evacuation is planned for the coming weeks.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, said this on the air of the nationwide news telethon, Ukrinform reports with reference to Suspilne.

"All services are working hard on the hottest directions. These are Kramatorsk and Bakhmut districts, settlements located along the front line. Mandatory evacuation of children has been in effect in the region since August 2022. In March 2023, the government approved a decision on forced evacuation, and is working on it," he said.

According to him, currently 89 children remain in the frontline areas of the region.

Kyrylenko noted that sometimes it is difficult to persuade the parents to leave these areas with their children.

"We tell the children's parents about the possible dire consequences of being under fire; if the parents refuse to evacuate, there is a warning about administrative and criminal liability," he said.

As reported by Ukrinform, 11 more Ukrainian children were returned from Russia and the captured territories.
