Turkey's Baykar starts building plant in Ukraine to produce Bayraktar drones

Turkey's Baykar has started building a plant in Ukraine to produce Bayraktar drones.

Oleksandr Kamyshin, the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, announced this on national television, Ukrinform reports.

"Work to build a plant in Ukraine has already begun. This is a large Bayraktar plant, on which an agreement was reached a few years ago, but then there were delays. Today this plant is under construction," he said.

Kamyshin also added that the recently concluded memorandum with Turkey also refers to "another production" which, he said, he cannot tell about yet.

On July 8, during a working visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Turkey, a memorandum of understanding in the field of strategic industries between the two countries was signed.

The document is aimed at promoting cooperation in strategic industries and technologies between Ukrainian and Turkish companies and supporting the implementation of existing projects and launching new ones in these areas.

The areas of cooperation include the development of capacities and opportunities for the production of autonomous vehicles, particularly unmanned aerial vehicles, increasing the production of various types of UAVs, research and development in the field of autonomous systems, space and other technological sectors of strategic industries of the two countries, as well as other technical cooperation necessary for the development of strategic industries.
