Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Energoatom discuss scenarios of possible events at ZNPP

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Chief of the General Staff Serhiy Shaptala, together with President of NNEGC Energoatom Petro Kotin and Director of the Rivne NPP Pavlo Kovtoniuk discussed the issue of information exchange between the military and the energy industry in order to plan scenarios for the development of possible events at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi and Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Serhiy Shaptala, together with President of NNEGC Energoatom Petro Kotin and Director of the Rivne NPP Pavlo Kovtoniuk discussed the issue of information exchange between the military and the energy industry in order to analyze, plan and forecasts scenarios of possible events at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant,” the report says.

They agreed on close cooperation in order to take measures to respond to certain situations in a timely manner.

As Ukrinform reported, the Russians occupied the ZNPP on March 4, 2022.

On June 22, 2023, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Russia's plans to carry out a terrorist attack on the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that Ukraine is preparing for any scenario around the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
