Soini said that the relatives of the deceased have already been informed about the volunteer's death. They gave her permission to tell about it.

The head of the consular department of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jussi Tanner, confirmed to Yle that the officials are aware of the case.

According to the available reports, this is the first Finnish volunteer who died defending Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in March 2023 came the reports about the death of Ivo Jurak, a former officer with the Estonian Defense Forces, who fought as part of the Ukrainian International Legion. He was killed in a battle in the east of Ukraine.
