Enemy shelling of Balakliia: One killed, nine injured

One person was killed, nine more were injured; private houses and outbuildings were destroyed as Russian forces shelled Balakliia town in Kharkiv region on Monday, June 5.

The press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"According to the investigation, on June 5, around 17:45, the Russian military shelled the town of Balakliia, Izium district. Nine civilians were injured. A 57-year-old civilian man died. Residential buildings, outbuildings and garages were damaged," the report says.

 The law enforcers launched a pre-trial investigation into the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to preliminary data, the Russian military struck the city with multiple launch rocket systems.

As Ukrinform reported, Russian troops shelled Balakliia on Monday evening. As of 18:30, it was known about one dead person and eight wounded. Later, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov informed that nine people were injured, three of them were in serious condition. The Russians struck a private housing sector.
