Man blows up on mine in Kharkiv region

Police are establishing the circumstances of the death of a resident of Kharkiv region who exploded on a mine between the villages of Suligivka and Dovhenke, Izium district.

That's according to the regional police, Ukrinform reports.

"It has been preliminarily established that the victim and his friend were traveling by car. Between the villages of Suligivka and Dovhenke in Izium district, their car broke down and the 40-year-old man went to the forest to look for a stick. There he stepped on an unknown explosive device. As a result of the explosion, the man was killed," the statement said.

Criminal proceedings were opened over the incident under Part 2 of Article 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As reported, on June 2, near the villages of Morozova Dolyna and Lemishchyno, Bohodukhiv district, Kharkiv region, a car carrying a family with three children exploded on an unknown explosive device. A 37-year-old woman was killed. The 36-year-old driver, two girls aged 12 and 15, and a 12-year-old boy were injured. The boy's condition is serious.
