Ukraine’s military leadership did prepare for Russian invasion – Zaluzhnyi

Ukraine’s military leadership was preparing for the Russian invasion, developing different options of countermeasures, which eventually allowed the country to preserve its air defense capabilities.

The relevant statement was made by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi in an interview with Dmytro Komarov’s special project ‘Year. Off-screen’, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In my head, I was analyzing all possible actions. Sometimes it became very, very difficult for me, but this encouraged me and my team, the General Staff, including the commanders, to look for an option on how exactly to act in such conditions, when the enemy prevails, when the offensive is launched from nearly all directions, and it will be rather powerful and rather rapid,” Zaluzhnyi told.

In his words, different options were under development, and the effectiveness of each solution was checked. After that, some options were declared as ineffective, and they had to work on other solutions. In general, a huge range of measures were carried out.

“This allowed us to completely change the air defense configuration and, thus, preserve the potential that had been maintained to date,” Zaluzhnyi noted.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine promised to disclose the details later, when it is possible to do so.
