US prepares new military aid package for Ukraine - CNN
The Biden administration intends to announce a new military aid package worth more than a billion dollars to Ukraine.
This was reported on Tuesday night by CNN, citing a representative of the US administration.
“The United States is set to announce a $1.2 billion aid package to Ukraine as early as Tuesday” - the statement said.
It is emphasized that the announcement is expected less than a week after the previous tranche of aid was provided to Ukraine, and at a time when the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing for a counteroffensive.
According to the official, the package will include drones, artillery ammunition and air defense missiles, as well as other equipment.
The new aid is expected to come from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
As Ukrinform reported earlier, last Wednesday, the Biden administration announced the allocation of $300 million in military aid under presidential authority, which includes immediate deliveries from the US Department of Defense.
