Ex-Swedish MP joins Ukrainian army
Former Swedish MP Caroline Nordengrip has signed a contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
That's according to her Instagram account, Ukrinform reports.
"The information about me joining the Ukrainian army has spread quite fast. I am very thankful for all the messages I receive and the support from people all around the globe. I'm humble and don't know what to say. Thank you. Think if there is something even small you can do for Ukraine and please help them. Slava Ukraini [Glory to Ukraine]," Nordengrip wrote.
She added that some media reported that she had joined Ukraine's International Legion. However, according to her, this is not true, as she became a part of the regular army.
In an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the ex-MP said that she would serve in the 47th Mechanized Brigade and was already preparing to leave for the front, although for the past 15 years she has connected her life exclusively with politics in her native country.
From 2018 to 2022, Nordengrip served as an MP from the Sweden Democrats party in the Riksdag. However, she decided to change her life last year when she saw and heard news about Irpin and Bucha.
