White House denies Russian fakes about Bakhmut

There is no confirmation that the Russians allegedly took control over the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, but there is evidence that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend the city, and fierce fighting is taking place there.

"I can’t confirm the press reporting that the Russians have taken the administration building. What I can confirm is that the Ukrainians are still fighting hard for Bakhmut," US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby described the situation on Monday amid the recent Russian fakes, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He emphasized that fierce fighting was ongoing there, and the city had not fallen to the Russians.

At the same time, Kirby noted at what cost the Russians were trying to achieve victory. According to him, they simply push recruits under the fire, "right into a meat grinder." In addition, the White House representative emphasized that the defense of the city obviously mattered a lot to the Ukrainians.

As reported, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the Russian army was losing its strength and trying to cover it up with fakes about the "capture" of the city of Bakhmut.
