Ukraine downs 34 of 48 Russian cruise missiles overnight Thu - Zaluzhnyi

Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed 34 of the 48 incoming Kh-101/Kh-555 and Kalibr cruise missiles Russia launched on March 9.

That’s according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Ukrinform reports.

In the early hours of Thursday, the enemy unleashed a massive missile attack targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, launching 81 missiles from multiple bases, Zaluzhnyi wrote on Telegram.

The barrage included:

  • 28 launches of Kh-101/Kh-555 air-based cruise missiles;
  • 20 launches of Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles;
  • 6 launches of Kh-22 air-based cruise missiles;
  • 6 launches of Kh-47 Kinzhal air-based cruise missiles;
  • 8 launches of guided air missiles: 2 – Kh-31P and 6 –Kh-59; and
  • 13 launches of S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles.

In addition, Russia launched eight Shahed-136/131 attack drones.

"The Air Force, jointly with other elements of Ukraine’s defense forces, downed 34 cruise missiles of the 48 Kh-101/Kh-555 and Kalibr missiles launched, as well as four Shahed-136/131 unmanned aerial vehicles," Zaluzhnyi emphasized.

Air defense forces also prevented eight Kh-31P and Kh-59 guided air missiles from hitting their targets, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Russian army hit Kyiv with a Kinzhal-type missile.
