Six air targets spotted over Kyiv, most shot down

About six enemy air targets were detected in the sky above Kyiv city, most of them were shot down by air defense systems.

The Kyiv City Military Administration said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"About six enemy air targets were detected in Kyiv’s airspace. According to preliminary information, these were balloons that were moving with the wind. These objects could have been carrying corner reflectors and reconnaissance equipment," the administration said.

The purpose of the balloon launch was probably to detect and exhaust air defenses, the city military administration said.

More information will be provided after a detailed study and analysis of the remains of the downed objects, the city military administration added.

As reported by Ukrinform, on February 15 around 15:00, an air raid siren went off in Kyiv due to air targets detected over the city. Air defenses were activated.
