Canada’s Defense Minister says Ukraine-bound Leopard 2 tanks already in Poland

The Leopard 2 tanks that Canada is handing over to Ukraine as part of defense assistance have already been delivered to Poland, where Canadian instructors have begun training Ukrainian tank crews.

Canada’s Defense Minister Anita Anand made the statement while speaking with journalists at the doorstep of the NATO defense ministerial in Brussels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have already announced four tanks to be sent to Poland. And this has already occurred. Those tanks are in Poland," she said.

According to her, 25 Canadian instructors have also arrived in the country where they have started training the Ukrainian military in the use of Leopard 2A4 tanks.

As reported by Ukrinform, Canada announced last week that it would transfer four Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Ottawa also agreed to buy for Ukraine the NASAMS air defense system and 200 armored vehicles.
