At meeting with EU leaders, Zelensky hands them Ukraine’s arms wish list

At the European Union Summit in Brussels, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine gave European leaders the lists of requests for weapons that Ukraine needs, taking into account the respective stocks available to the EU nations.

This was reported by Spiegel and dpa news agency, according to Ukrinform, referring to the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

The dpa agency quoted an anonymous high-ranking EU official as saying: "It's quite smart what the Ukrainians are doing... They know exactly what they need and they know what to ask for."

It is noted that the list of requests is made taking into account the respective stockpiles of the member states, which is expected to increase the pressure on individual nations to provide more weapons.

When asked where the Ukrainians got information about other countries’ actual reserves, the official answered: "They are informed, they have contacts." He added that, given such capabilities of Ukrainian intelligence, "it is not surprising that they are able to defend from Russia."

As reported by Ukrinform, on February 9, President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed defense support for Ukraine with the European leaders and the high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy.
