The Russian military is building "defensive lines" and constructing defensive structures around the Berdiansk airport.

Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov said this on the Telegram messaging app, Ukrinform reports.

"There are already fortification structures around Melitopol - from the direction of Berdiansk, Vasylivka and the Kherson region. In recent weeks, the occupiers have dug trenches and set up 'dragon's teeth' [barriers] around the Berdiansk airport, 100 kilometers from the front lines," he wrote.

According to Fedorov, the occupiers are looking for people in the temporarily occupied Crimea for the construction of defensive lines.

Planet Labs images, processed by the Defense Express news outlet, show that the occupiers have long since turned the abandoned airfield into a base for helicopters.

Another extremely important enemy activity was noticed during the analysis of the images: the transformation of the airfield into a defense node with the creation of a full-fledged perimeter of fortifications.

According to the report, the entire airfield along the 15-km perimeter got defense lines consisting of trenches and individual positions, including shelters for equipment. Moreover, anti-tank fortifications (so-called "Wagner's pyramids") are installed in front of the line of trenches.
