Situation in Belarus direction remains “under control” - border guards

The situation in the Belarusian direction remains fully controlled as no movement of enemy military equipment is being observed near the border.

That’s according to a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"This direction remains fully controlled, although, of course, the situation is also somewhat tense. We understand that Belarus supports Russia in the war the latter has been waging against Ukraine, offering it its territory, where exercises are constantly taking place," he noted.

The spokesman for the agency added that, as before, the Ukrainian side records no movement of military equipment directly near the border, and no enemy warplanes fly in the area, operating deeper into the territory of Belarus.

"So far, the intelligence units and other elements that monitor the situation in this direction are not seeing a strike group formed on the territory of Belarus, which could invade as of today, but the enemy must never be underestimated, so Ukraine is preparing for any developments," Demchenko added.

As reported, on January 16, joint aviation and tactical exercises began, involving Belarus and Russia air force units.
