Moscow realizes that attack on Soledar came at high price – State Department

The situation in Soledar remains difficult, but the Kremlin has already realized that the decision to attack this Ukrainian town came at a high price.

U.S. State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said this at a press briefing in Washington, according to Ukrinform’s own correspondent.

“It is clear that Russia’s months-long campaign appears to have come at an extreme and tremendous loss of personnel. Thousands of Russian unprepared and poorly equipped conscripts have been killed,” he said, when commenting on the situation at the front in Ukraine.

Patel stressed that this offensive came at a high price for Russians: "The Kremlin itself admitted that its decision to attack Soledar came at a high price."

In this context, he added that the United States would continue to consult closely with Ukrainian partners and assess the situation.

As reported by Ukrinform, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, battles for Soledar are ongoing. The enemy struck 11 settlements in the Bakhmut direction over the past day.
